Cooking

Been eating quite healthily today. Did have a hypo at 5pm and ate an oaty chocolate biscuit. Come to bed with no night time snacking. Hopefully no hypos later.

Jealous of my sister whos just booked a holiday to Tunisia. I’m the only one of all my sister’s (4 of us) who doesn’t get a holiday. Moan moan I know, but I feel like moaning and stamping my feet.

I am off to The Bluecoat in Liverpool on Saturday afternoon. With a friend, to learn about the history of the beautiful building, we get a tour of it, it used to be a school.

Day 2, avoiding sugar

Well, apart from needing to have a tube of glucose and 2 teaspoons of sugar for a hypo in the afternoon, I did well today avoiding sugary foods. It certainly helps not having the stuff in the house. We did call at the shop after work, but I did not even look at sweets, cakes, chocolate – ok I glanced!!!!

image

For breakfast I had wholemeal toast, soup for lunch and chickpea and chicken curry for tea. This isn’t too difficult at all, this avoiding sugary foods. Unfortunately I can’t do anything about hypos, I have to treat them with glucose/sugar quick acting then follow up with carbs.
Jonathans started his Zenical today, as prescribed by our GP. I’m sure he will do well, sometimes we need a helping hand even if it is tablets. I put a colour rinse on my hair tonight.

I’d like to continue to avoid sugary stuff.weighed myself this morning and was 12 st…….or 168 lbs, obviously far too much for a person who is not even 5 ft tall. Am tempted to hop on the scales each day, maybe I’ll just go on them when I feel like it (or remember). Off to bed early tonight to read, stops me from going in the kitchen for something to eat too!!!

Eating out

Had a few bites to eat out, not always easy to eat super healthy in cafes. R got brilliant grades in her Maths and English GCSE’ s. Very proud of her. J, R and I went out to tea to R’ s fave place The OK Diner. I had a breakfast which was nice.
Today Neil and I had lunch out, a coronation chicken sandwich with salad and a few crisps. Tried to eat healthier at home for tea. Had a syn free chilli, no rice. And some yogurt. Did nibble on a small bag of cashew nuts.
Need to do some walking tomorrow, or house cleaning! Or both!!!
Got a new swimming costume today, wonder if J will go swimming tomorrow or Monday?
Lost 1 1/2 lbs last week in Slimming World, making 9 1/2 lbs altogether. Feel I haven’t been as good as I could’ve been this week, unfortunately. I need to get totally on track. It’s been several weeks since I really tried.
Oh yes, I went for my hearing test at the hospital on Friday. I have moderate to severe loss in my left ear and was given a digital hearing aid, programmed specifically for me. It’s great but takes some getting used to hearing so many sounds. When I’m not wearing it, every sound is so dull.
Blood sugars have been marginally better. I got sent a new insulin pen (Novopen Echo) by a lovely new friend online on the Diabetic Den, thank you Avril. I am so chuffed with it and it does half units. Stupid really that my diabetic clinic have only ever provided me with 1 pen and I’ve never ever thought to ask my GP for any.  Seeing my GP on Wed afternoon to ask about getting my diabetes care transferred to Liverpool, they have s much better diabetes unit, plus they do the pump.

A few days ago with my insulin pen!

Might have overdone the ice cream today. Bill Neil’s dad), fatherinlaw came round midday. Had 2 birthday cards which I must confess to opening. Thank you soooooo much Bill, and Colin, Chris and Danny for the birthday money, so totally generous and lovely.
R gave me the most beautiful home made card earlier, and what she wrote in it touched me very much, it was so heartfelt, lovely and very moving for me. Poor J has been doing last minute slogging on his dissertation due in later today. R did let slip he got me a card!!!!!
I love my family so so much.

Eating Walking

yes I have eaten crap
1 chocolate muffin
Soreen with spread
Chips
Too much bread
Crackers
That’s all I can remember!
Did do some walking round Chester. Then tonight J walked round the block with me. Not beating myself up over the crap eating. Got to move on and think good healthy thoughts for tomorrow onwards.
How do I keep messing up though?

Feeling bit better

Still stressed but not as stressed. Had a lovely lunch out today with a friend (Elaine).I had a ham, cheese sandwich with homemade coleslaw. It was very relaxing, lovely and sunny out, a nice afternoon.
This morning J (my 23 yr old son) and I took R (my 16 yr old daughter), to her school for an English exam. J and I went to the local cafe for an hour or so then walked to shops then collected R THEN went back to cafe to get R and J lunch, I just had a cup of tea. It is so very rare that we get R out, that taking her to lunch (even when struggling with money) is a normal and nice thing to do. It’s lovely to see her smiling and chatting. She seemed quite positive about how her exam had gone.
I did fall asleep late afternoon. Got up Arghgh 10pm. Couldn’t be bothered eating so just had Muller light yogurt and cup of tea. I have my diabetic clinic in the morning. J is off to Uni for an exam and R has a science exam and is being picked up by the school.
Tomorrow evening I am going to a barbque arranged by work at a local cricket club. Fairly easy to follow Slimming World plan at a barbecue and I won’t be drinking as don’t drink alcohol these days.
I spray painted some garden furniture

Shoulders have been aching today. Maybe I’m just getting old!?

Food Planning

image

I rarely do any food planning, which is often my downfall. I come home from work (having been in work 8am till 5pm) and am usually tired and hungry. Can’t be bothered cooking a healthy meal therefore eat whatever is easiest and quickest which is mostly not healthy.
I should stock my freezer with healthy meals to cook, plan and make meals ready the night before or give Neil or J instructions to cook a healthy meal ready for when I get home (happens once in a blue moon)!
What have I eaten today?
Lunch-jacket potato, ham, salad, egg, cheese and a Muller yogurt.then a cookie and a piece of birthday cake plus to pieces of vintage cheddar. No planning.

Wed 9th April

had a good day today. Managed again to eat healthily. Did have a hypo last night in middle of morning that required 3 digestive biscuits and some glucogel.
Want to hop on the scales but I won’t, will leave it till Monday eve at class.
Made a nice SW quiche snd salad ready for lunch tomorrow.
Life does revolve around food at the moment unfortunately.

Seem to be suffering from a flipping lot of aches and pains today. First day back in work mind you. All my joints are aching and I’m not feeling brilliant. Ohhhhhh comfort food.

Had 4 mini cake type things b4 tea. At least I said no to a 5th one as I felt sick. Haha!
Was going to walk home from work tomorrow, maybe I will. I am just working half day.
